Fat or Skinny? Discuss.

I was having trouble choosing a belt for this outfit. I chose a skinny brown belt because the colour brown seemed to tie in the light khaki skirt and the pastel striped shirt…. but the thick black belt seemed to proportionately fit the thickness of the existing waistband of the skirt. But the black seemed too… dividing… and not blending in…

Shirt: Vintage
Skirt: Dynamite
Shoes: Vintage (the soles say, “EATON’S”, back when it was still a department store)

  1. Crazy thought, but what about both? Put the brown on top of the black? I agree that the thickness of the black belt suits the outfit more, but I think the brown would be great to throw in there to go with the colour of the shoes.. so why not both! The black will be less harsh with the brown on top. :]

  2. i think the black would suit the outfit more. it stands out with a sudden emphasis while the brown one sticks out but at the same time it’s hardly noticeable.. lol i don’t know, whichever one you like better.. or wear both like what Chris said or just wear them at different times with the outfit. but i do think that both belts look good.. sorry my opinion was all over the place.. > – <

  3. I think both work, but I prefer the brown skinny belt. It just makes the outfit look for relaxed.

  4. I vote black belt – I think it suits the skirt better. The brown belt looks a bit unnecessary, the black belt looks like it’s doing something ….ha. does that make sense?

  5. I think I like both. The skinny one gives the whole outfit a more vintage vibe, while the black one a more modern office-chic vibe.
Your shoes are gorgeous! Are they slingbacks?

  6. Fat. It complements the wide waist band of the skirt and really streamlines the lines of the outfit together. It’s more cohesive. If you had done a pencil skirt, the skinny belt would work much better. Or a pencil dress.

    XX.
