Ben, See my Bensimon!

Keds?  Nah..

Converse?  But everyone and their toddlers and dogs have them..

Vans?  I’m not much of a sk8rgirl.

But I needed some comfortable canvas shoes, so I picked up a pair of Bensimon.  Oh I’m so sure you know all about these sneakers already.  They’re said to be the default shoe for French girls on-the-go.  Apparently Bensimon has a cult following in France and every girl has at least one pair.  Mais bien sûr! Such magnetizing yet simple little guys, aren’t they.  Other than my sorry français which I have actually spent 8 odd years studying and an insatiable appetite for macarons, croissants, mille-feuilles…. (Oh my gosh where is this going!!), these Bensimons are just about as Parisian as I am gonna get.  Beyond their feminine at the same time boyish charm, they are also easily maintained – just toss them in the washing machine and they will come out clean and cute like the day you bought them.

We all need comfortable shoes to survive!  What’s your favourite pair of play shoes?

I am wearing..

Tunic (tucked in):  Halogen
Skirt:  GAP
Belt (My Carrie Bradshaw belt!!!):  Forever 21

  1. FIrst I love your outfit. LOOOOVE. I am all about skirts and sneakers. Also, where can one procure these? I usually go with Converse, and they used to be cheap. I dunno what the heck is going on with their prices though. Now I’ve moved along to classic canvas vans for comfort and durability.

  2. i’m jealous of how great you style this bright printed skirt! i’ve never been that great with using bright colors but you do it so effortlessly! and that belt is pretty epic. :)

  3. Chris you’re just too awesome! hehe thanks for the encouragement and sweet words. You truly make my day (:

Your skirt is just amazing. It’s colors and print is just too fun! I’ve never heard of those shoes, but I’ve definitely seen them. I believe you did you great job putting the outfit with the shoes together! You make me want to get a pair esp. if they are comfortable!

  4. argh, you’re making me jealous! I was in Paris recently and these were EVERYWHERE, and I had grand visions of buying a pair in every colour and for some reason never got around to actually buying any. now I’m back home and desperately want a pair or two or ten! haha. I love how they look so… mass-produced… but in a good way?

  5. I feel the need to tell you that I bought two pairs on ebay about an hour after writing that comment! haha. navy & pink. got them for $15 each!

  6. The Carrie Belt!!! This really is a Carrie B inspired outfit. I love the color and the punk detailing on the belt.

The shoes aren’t my first choice, but it goes with your geek chic aesthetic. I’m more of a Chuck Taylors kind of girl. You are absolutely charming in your glasses!!

    XX.
    Mae Lu, thereafterish.
