Make your presence known by hiding yourself.

I must be absolutely out of my mind for putting on a turtleneck in this weather, but I couldn’t help but try out the upcoming Autumn season. I rarely wear turtlenecks because my neck is already short and I’m always trying to find ways to make my neck look longer without subjecting others to the awful deep v-neck tops out there. Turtleneck tops are mainly worn if you have a swan-like long neck, or for functional reasons and do not care that it will make you look like you’ve got no neck.

I think I’ll start wearing turtlenecks more often this upcoming Autumn seasons because there is something very mysterious and strangely alluring about covering up all the way up to your face. It’s kind of following the Mary-Kate Olsen philosophy… there is something strangely attractive about piling up on layers and covering yourself up. Make your presence known by hiding yourself.

And there is also something endearing about oversized long sleeves. It helps me hide a cell phone in my hand without appearing rude and “always in need of checking messages” LOL. I admit, I am kind of addicted to getting updates on Twitter. You never know when there will be free ticket giveaways or when OldSpice or The Sulk tweets something hilarious to brighten up your day!

I am wearing:

Turtleneck: American Eagle Outfitters, 2-3 years ago
Skirt: Le Chateau, 2-3 years ago
Shoes: vintage

  1. I love that blue skirt paired with the striped shirt. It’s incredible.
I love turtlenecks. I hardly wear them cause many make me feel like I’m choking, but I do like them. Yours is lovely.

I might have to quote you, Justine!
Love the blue if ur skirt :)
and Chris, you can borrow my red n white look anytime ;)

  3. Then there is the cozy comfort of having your hands warm. I like long sleeves peeking out of blazer sleeves. It’s funky and cool. Like arm warmers.

I agree. I have a short neck, too. But I don’t care. Audrey Hepburn was little and she made black turtlenecks big deals.

That indigo skirt is royal on you.

    XX.
    Mae Lu, thereafterish.
